CBD (Cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp or Cannabis sativa plant. 

Cannabinoids are a group of fatty compounds found in hemp and the human body. They are the primary chemical compounds produced by the hemp plant and are key players in normal immune and central nervous system functioning. There are more than 80 identified cannabinoids. Out of all the known cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the ONLY one that’s psychoactive.

CBD works by regulating the endocannabinoid system (ECS) found within human and animal bodies. The ECS is like an internal communication network between the brain and the central nervous system. This system is responsible for modulating your pet’s sleep, appetite, stress, anxiety, mood, immune system, memory, pain, and inflammation. Once CBD enters your pet’s system body, it attaches to receptors along the ECS.

Not at all. This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions around CBD. Unlike the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compound found in the hemp place, cannabidiol (CBD) is completely non-psychoactive and will never make your pet “high”.

Any drug that is metabolised by the liver will be affected by CBD. These will be processed differently with the presence of this cannabinoid in the system. This means that anything from steroids to antibiotics or antidepressants will be affected. But the list goes on. Be sure you ask your vet about what is safe and healthy for your pet.

CBD oil can sometimes be difficult to administer correctly to your pet. There are three ways we recommend to make this process easier:

 

1. MIX THE CBD OIL IN FOOD
   Drop the appropriate dosage of oil over wet soaked food in your pet’s food bowl. This is one of the easiest ways to administer the oil and ensure your pet receives its benefits.
2. MIX THE CBD OIL IN WATER
   Dilute the appropriate dosage of oil by adding it to your pet’s water bowl. This is another easy way to administer our oils to your pet. However, it may take some time for your pet to drink all of their water and receive the entirety of the oil’s benefits.
3. DIRECTLY INTO THE MOUTH
   Simply, administer the appropriate dosage of oil directly into your pet’s mouth. This is the most difficult way to administer our oils, but will ensure the most accurate and fast-acting dosing.

We use hemp seed oil as our carrier oil. Our products are made from whole-hemp plant materials.

The short answer? No. While it’s possible to give your pet more CBD than is beneficial, the most typical side effect he or she will experience is drowsiness. If you want CBD to work properly, don’t overdo it.

It’s also important to add, not to under-dose. CBD must be administered properly at the optimal dosage for your pet to achieve desired results.

CBD products don’t have an official FDA certification as organic, because they aren’t regulated by the FDA. However, most hemp grown in the U.S. is organic. Hemp farms can be regulated by the USDA and must meet stringent requirements to be considered organic.

If the CBD you’re buying is on the cheaper end of the scale, it may contain harmful chemicals. 

In short, yes! Cats also have an endocannabinoid system that benefits from CBD. Cats do have smaller bodies than many dogs, of course, so you should follow dosage guidelines on your CBD product. In general, CBD has been shown to have no serious side effects in animal studies so far. 

There are no known serious side effects of CBD in dogs. Your dog might be extra-thirsty, or if treated for anxiety, have slight drowsiness. As always, it’s best to start with a smaller dose, watch your dog’s reaction and work your way up.

There are brand-new guidelines on this from the American Veterinary Medical Association. In guidelines for vets, they write about how long it takes for dogs to experience effects of CBD in the (very rare) event of a toxic reaction. The evidence shows your animal will typically experience effects within 1-3 hours of (ingestion),” but that effects can be felt “in as little as 5 minutes or as long as 96 hours.” The AVMA notice emphasizes that most toxic cases have occurred in young puppies. Most of these incidents involved other toxic substances such as chocolate, raisins, xylitol or wrapping.

If your dog has somehow ingested a high amount of CBD and shows signs of toxicity, please contact your vet immediately.  In general, normal doses of CBD are well-tolerated.  There are (very rare) instances of toxic episodes and most incidents of toxicity involve other ingredients known to be harmful to pets, such as chocolate or wrappings.

Yes! All of our products are tested by an independent certified laboratory. All of our products have a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and the test results are featured on the website. 

For the longest shelf life, we recommend storing your oil in a dark, cool environment such as your refrigerator. Generally, your CBD oil should stay fresh for up to 12 months. However,  if you notice a change in consistency, taste, or smell, the oil may be losing its freshness.

Full spectrum is only truly full spectrum when purchased in a dispensary where there is quite a bit of THC in the product. Once you remove the THC below legal levels,  most of the detectable spectrum of cannabinoids are lost. Therefore, it is not fair to call products “Full Spectrum Oil” even though many sites will make this claim. Full Spectrum Oil that is legal in all states is different from Full Spectrum Oil  from a dispensary. Legal FSO is a full-plant (CBD oil plus hemp seed oil) derivative that is high in CBD and low in THC at around .3% or less.

 

Further, CBD oil is made from the leaves, flowers and stalks of the hemp plant—the only parts of the plant where cannabidiol is found. Hemp oil seed oil is made from hemp seeds. Each type of oil offers its own potent health benefits. There by combining the CBD isolate from hemp plants and the hemp oil from hemp seeds our product is a Full Plant Oil.
